The Museum’s guided tours
  • General Museum Tour
Duration 1 hour, cost 50€, maximum 25 people.
A journey through the Museum to discover the ancient civilizations to which the artifacts belonged but also the stories of the collectors and scholars who found them and who, over several centuries, have contributed to the birth and development of archaeological sciences.
  • Gio Ponti and the Archaeological Museum in Palazzo Liviano
Duration 1 hour, cost 50€, maximum 25 people.
The current location of the Museum of Archaeological Sciences and Art is the result of excellent design, due to the architectural genius of Gio Ponti. The visit highlights the main elements of Ponti’s design against the background of the historical events of archaeology in Padua in the period between the two world wars and in that of the rectorate of Carlo Anti, who was also director of the Institute of Archaeology and the museum at the time.
  • The Mantova Benavides Collection at the Archaeological Museum in Palazzo Liviano
Duration 1 hour, cost 50€, maximum 25 people.
The Mantova Benavides collection was formed in Padua during the Renaissance by the family of the same name and the major collector of the family, Marco Mantova Benavides. At the beginning of the 18th century, this collection partially passed into Antonio Vallisneri’s Museum and from there, by donation, it came to the University of Padua where the artifacts are still preserved today, mostly at the Museum of Archaeological Sciences and Art, of which this ancient collection constitutes the original nucleus.
  • Stories of ceramics: The Collections of Greek Vases
Duration 1 hour, cost 50€, maximum 25 people.
The Greek vases of the Museum of Archaeological Sciences and Art come largely from private or public collector, although there are some excavation finds. The many lives of these artifacts, so sought after in antiquity collections of all times, are recounted in this journey that combines archaeological and historical-artistic exegesis of the artifacts with antiquarian taste and antiquity collecting, following its evolution up to the present day.
  • Archaeology at your Fingertips (tactile tour)
Duration 1 hour, cost 50€, maximum 10 people (including 1 companion for each person with disabilities).
Free for people with disabilities and companion.
Tactile experience, accessible to all, aims to relate ancient works and people through an inclusive activity of exploration of the artifacts themselves, made possible by the integrated use of multiple modes of knowledge of reality, the visual and the tactile.
